ENDORSED NON-PROFITS

Please CLICK HERE to support: VAD Volunteers Assisting the Disabled

This song was written by Charles Amidon, father of Shawn Amidon, owner and founder of Armineus LLC inspired by the love and friendship Charlie felt towards the people of MDA and later VAD. The community is full of generous and beautiful souls, many of whom are not shown the love and respect and attentiveness in daily life that they find among the volunteers who serve VAD. All 4 of Shawn's parents, Charlie and Sue (bio) and Dave and Margie (step) where personally and passionately connected to VAD. Of the 4, Sue Harris (Amidon) remains and is, as ever, the most personally invested in providing the best personal attention and love and respect and genuine connection to the Campers, Volunteers, Staff, and Board Members (on which she presently serves.) VAD is not just a non-profit the family supports, VAD is family and this family is and has always been inspired and driven by the love within Sue Harris which infected Dave Harris to join this family, willingly, in his 30s. Marjie Amidon (Bailey) was literally born into this family as her two cousins were who befriended Sue and convinced her to become an attendant at age 16. She would later recruit her 16 yr old boyfriend Charlie... VAD is family.

The RESCU Foundation, Inc. ADDITIONALLY

This community is an extended family that Dave Harris, Shawn Amidon's stepfather, helped graft his family into.

David D. Harris married Susan (Houck) Amidon on October 3, 1987. For 38 years, Dave was known as "the face" of the Michigan Renaissance Festival, playing the Lord High Mayor. He was also a contributing member of the MRF Production Staff. It is through the Festival that he met his wife. Dave lived quite a colorful life. He traveled the country selling comic books with his friend and co-owner of Archimedes Presents. Dave was one of the original organizers of the Detroit Area Star Trek convention and delivered "singing" telegrams for Eastern Onion as Poo-Poo Penguin. Dave LOVED to cook. His homemade cookies were in great demand with friends and family. For several years he was in charge of cooking for the VAD Thanksgiving Dinner for Muscular Dystrophy patients. Although known as an entertainer, Dave was not really a social person. He loved reading, going to the movies and all things Sci-Fi. Oh, and a computer specialist as his day job.

This is why it is a Mission for Armineus LLC to bring professional services to the Harris/Amidon family's extended family in The Arts.

And, why it is vital to the heart of this business that in support of our extended family and in accordance with Dave's wish for contributions to his memory be made to RESCU at www.RESCUfoundation.org.
